I do have rain sensor wipers (obviously on the front)and these work fine - when I say fine, on the rain sensor motor it is a little intermittent when working. The rear wiper is not working at all. It was a little intermittent but then just gave up. With regards to the glow plugs - again this came up on the diag test. BMW 118d 2015 Wheel size. 2. I don't see any point in messing about so here are the symptoms. Blower fan does not work using the bezel control knob. Heated rear windscreen does not work. Now I think the 2 issues could be separate problems which have coincidentally manifested at the same time, but I want to put in.
3. SOURCE: Rear wiper and washer of BMW 5 E39 not working I had the same problem. I thought it was an issue with a blown fuse, but also noticed that the rear wiper was very stiff. I solved it by opening the rear window (so the wiper is not clicked into the motor) then squirt some WD40 into the wiper mechanism (I put the oil in from the outside).

Switching on wipers

Press the lever upward, arrow 1.

The lever automatically returns to its initial position when released.

Normal wiper speed

Press once.

The system switches to operation in the intermittent mode when the vehicle is stationary.

Fast wiper speed

Press twice or press beyond the resistance point.

The system switches to normal speed when the vehicle is stationary.

Intermittent wipe or rain sensor

If the car is not equipped with a rain sensor, the intermittent-wipe time is a preset.

If the car is equipped with a rain sensor, the time between wipes is controlled automatically and depends on the intensity of the rainfall. The rain sensor is mounted on the windshield, directly in front of the interior rearview mirror.

Activating intermittent wipe or rain sensor

Press the button, arrow 3. The LED in the button lights up.

Setting speed for intermittent wipe or sensitivity of the rain sensor

Turn the thumb wheel 5.

Deactivating intermittent wipe or rain sensor

Press the button again, arrow 3. The LED goes out.

Deactivate the rain sensor before entering an automatic car wash. Failure to do so could result in damage caused by undesired wiper activation.

Cleaning windshield and headlamps

Pull the lever, arrow 4.
